The Staff Selection commission (SSC) Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam (CHSL) has announced a notification for recruitment for the Data Entry Operator (DEO) & Lower Division Clerk (LDC) post. SSC CHSL is going to conduct the exam as on November 2019.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern & Syllabus
The SSC has conduct the Written Exam, Skill Test (for DEO) & Typing Test (for LDC) on computer to complete the recruitment process.
Exam Pattern of Written Test
In SSC CHSL DEO & LDC Written Exam there are following 4 subject.
- Part I: General Intelligence
- Part II: English Language
- Part III: Quantitative Aptitude and
- Part IV: General Awareness
- The Written exam will be consist of Objective type Multiple Choice Questions only.
- Question paper will be available in Hindi & English Language (But English paper will available only in ?English Language).
- Each part consist 50 Maximum Marks.
- There will be Negative Marking of 1/4 marks
SSC CHSL DEO & LDC Exam Syllabus
General Intelligence: In General Intelligence there are verbal and non-verbal both type are mentioned.
Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Trends, Figural Analogy, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/Number, Classification, Drawing inferences ,Figural Classification ,Punched hole/pattern-folding & unfolding, Space Orientation ,Semantic Classification, Semantic Series, Embedded figures, Figural, Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Figural Pattern – folding and completion, Number Series, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and de-coding & Other sub-topics.
English Language: In English Language there are following topic are include:
Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/ Detecting, Mis-spelt words, Idioms & Phrases, Active/Passive, Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/Indirect narration, One word substitution, Improvement of Sentences, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage & Comprehension Passage.
Quantitative Aptitude: The quantitative aptitude part will consist of following section:
Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds (simple problems) and
Graphs of Linear Equations.
Number Systems: Computation of Whole Number, Decimal and Fractions, Fundamental arithmetical operations: Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Relationship between numbers, Interest (Simple and Compound), Profit and Loss, Mixture and Alligation, Discount & Partnership Business,
Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, Circle and its chords & common tangents to two or more circles.
MENSURATION: Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone,
Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with
triangular or square Base
Trigonometry, Trigonometric ratios, Height and distances (simple problems only) Standard Identities like sin20 + Cos20=1, Complementary angles etc.
Use of Tables and Graphs: Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar-diagram & Pie-chart
General Awareness: The General Awareness part has following topics:
Questions are designed to test the candidate‟s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India & its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy & scientific research.
NOTE-1: The VH candidates of 40% and above visual disability & opting for SCRIBES there will be no component of Maps/Graphs/Diagrams/Statistical Data in the General Intelligence & Reasoning / Quantitative Aptitude.
Skill Test for DEO:
Candidates required data entry speed of 8000 key depression per hour.
Typing Test for LDC:
Candidates required min 30 w.p.m. typing speed for LDC exam.
